The Arizona Local Progressive Candidate Training Program is designed to prepare progressive individuals
who are planning or considering to run for an elected office in the near or distant future. This training program also provides important insights and direction for individuals who are or will be serving as a campaign manager.
This six-part comprehensive training program provides the nuts and bolts of what it takes to win and explores the values of running as a candidate committed to advancing progressive policies.
The Arizona Local Progressive Candidate Training Program is sponsored by the Center for Progressive Leadership, Planned Parenthood Arizona and the Arizona Education Association.
Details
This training program is specifically designed to provide progressive leaders who are preparing to run for, or considering to run for, an elected position with the knowledge, tools, and methodologies for running a successful campaign that is inclusive of progressive values. All material in this program is also beneficial to individuals who want to hone their skills for serving as a campaign manager for a progressive candidate in the near or distant future.
Individuals registering for this program may not have already filed to run for office.
Components of the Training Program
The components of the Arizona Local Progressive Candidate Training Program include:
- Three comprehensive weekend workshops
- Assignment of a mentor to each participant
- Personal Political Leadership Plan

- Message Development and Delivery
- Voter Contact
- Panel Discussion with Elected Officials on What To Do AND Not To Do

Dates, Places and Rates
Trainings will be held over the course of three weekends. Participants are expected to coordinate their schedules to ensure their participation in all of the workshops.
There is a $100 fee for this training program. The fee helps cover the costs of training, meals and materials. There are limited scholarships available, based on need and by request.
The dates and locations for the 2010 program will be:
- April 10 and 11
- May 1 and 2
- May 22 and 23
